Jennie Heppenstall Visit

A woman called Jennie Heppenstall visited today. She has been working on props and model making related jobs for the last few years. She has worked on things such as Van Helsing, Harry Potter and making architecture models.

She told us about the methods of working she has done such as going around museums with clients for them to pick elements of pieces they like and also making things from found and basic object that she adapts.

Jennie also talked about the importance of contacts and work experience in this sort of field and described the pathway her carrier has gone since graduating. She is now part of a group of friends made company, called ‘The glue factory’, who take client commissions and jobs and is made up of people she has met along the way.

I found her talk very interesting and informative. It also really lifted my thoughts about jobs and this industry as although I am a long way off it is interesting to get an idea of what could be to come. I would like to talk to her again, maybe on a more one to one basis such as email, to ask questions and get as a possible contact for future reference.
